MADISON/BEACH PARK, ILL.-Joseph Benedetti, age 68, of Beach Park, Ill., died suddenly on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Vista East Hospital, Waukegan, Ill. He was born in Madison on Jan. 30, 1946. Joe was raised in Madison and graduated from Madison East High School. He married Jane Jellings, his high school sweetheart, in 1965, and attended UW-Madison. Joe was employed for 30 years at Oscar Mayer/Kraft Foods. He was also employed by OSI-Carolina Culinary Foods and was currently vice president of Fair Oaks Farms in Pleasant Prairie, Wis. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He enjoyed playing golf, reading and spending time with his family. Joe volunteered his time over the years to organizations such as Rotary, Junior Achievement and United Way. He was full of life and will be missed by all that were blessed to know him. Joe is survived by Jane (Jellings) Benedetti, his loving wife of 49 years; his father, Florio Benedetti of Madison; a son, Bradley (Dana) Benedetti of Lafayette, Ind.; a daughter, Louise (David) Otte of Washington, Ill.; seven grandchildren; a sister, Patricia (Richard) Narf of Oregon, Wis.; and a brother, David Benedetti of Denver, Colo. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Benedetti; and two sisters, Susan J. Benedetti and Christine Benedetti. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 10 a.m., on Friday, June 13, 2014, with Pastor Frank Gaylord officiating. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Thursday, June 12, 2014 and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe’s name to the Ronald McDonald House. Joe always had a good joke to tell and would take time to talk to you on any level.
He had a long term vision when it came down to the company's future, made me feel at
home when we had our Christmas luncheon for the maintenance department and was always
present at those gatherings. Joe always treated me fairly even when caught up in the break room
sneaking a cup of coffee, he always knew who was on top of the plant's refrigeration. My condolences to the Benedetti Family. There was no one quite like him. Sincerely,
