I knew your mom because she would be in the van with my mom (Marian Johnson) when she would come home from the day center. I would always come outside to meet the van and your mom and I would always wave to each other and blow each other lots of kisses. Mom and I are really going to miss her because she was such a wonderful person. take care, Jean Coenen

Tia Mercy was a wonderful, loving, gentle and loyal family First Lady. She belonged to a long family line of first female educators, descended from a family that believed in serving their community and nation. I still think of her and Uncle Winston with love and warmth.
