MADISON-Mavis E. Corbett, age 71, of Madison, formerly of Mount Horeb, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014, at home. She was born on Sept. 12, 1942, in Madison, the daughter of Richard and Ila (McCummber) Johnson. Mavis is survived by her two sons, Curt (Jennifer) Corbett of Lake Mills and Chuck (Mary) Corbett of Columbus; a grandson, Thomas Corbett of Madison; and a brother, Allan (Nancy) Johnson of Mosinee. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Memorial Gathering will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL HOME, 2950 Chapel Valley Hill Road, Fitchburg, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. , on Thursday, March 13, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dane County Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

My dear friend, how I will miss our morning playing card and having breakfast and coffee. You were always there for me when I was down, we had our moments but we stayed strong. I love you dearly and I will miss you to the moon and back. Say hi to Julie for me. Donna Flom

My oldest sister Pat and Mavis were best friends. The three of us boarded our horses together in Mount Horeb. I have many wonderful memories of good times spent together with our horses, Mavis and Gypsy.
I am sincerely sorry for your loss. Although I have not seen Mavis for years, my sister Pat kept in touch with her and relayed Mavis's journey battling cancer to me. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of sadness.

Mavis and I were friends since Junior High School in Mt. Horeb. We had horses together and had some really good times. I moved to Nebraska in 1964, then later to Colorado before arriving in Arizona in 1977. I kept in contact through the years and was very sad when she told me she had cancer. The last time I saw her was November 2010 when I was in Wisconsin. We had a good time talking about the horses and other animals we had. I am very sad she has died, and my thoughts are with you. I'm saddened to hear of the passing of Mavis. I do remember her love for horses when in Mt. Horeb. I knew her when I was a child and friend of Alan. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
