Marlene & I first met in 1969,when we joined MPD and went through the police academy. She was a kind, fair, and gentle woman and a great investigator. The world is much poorer without her in it. Mary Otterson

Tony, Dawn, Nikki, Ty and family..We are so sorry about your mothers passing, I know I have said this in emails/texts, but my mothers death is still so raw to me and it breaks my heart to know other people, especially those I care about, are losing their loved ones and will have to endure the pain that I have. Know that it will get better and the thing that helps is the wonderful memories and believe me..she will always be near..you will feel her. Love you guys! Pam and Tom Dudley

I live in one of the condos near Marlene. And although I did not know her well, I enjoyed chatting with her about her beautiful flower garden. She was a talented gardener and kind person who made our neighborhood more beautiful through her efforts. My deepest sympathy to all her family. Linda Palzkill

I am so very sad to hear of Marlene's passing. I was blessed to have been able to get to know her over the years. I know how much you all meant to her and how much she meant to you. She was my mom away from mom (I always told her that she reminded me of my mother whom lives in Wyoming.) Derrick adored her as well and we both are so sad and will miss her terribly. Our deepest, deepest sympathy to you all. Linda Stelter and Derrick Washington
