MADISON – Rilla M. Hinkes, age 58, of Madison, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on January 25, 1954, in Madison, the daughter of Leonard and Rilla (Kurth) Dunn. Rilla married Chris Hinkes on April 21, 1979, in Madison. She enjoyed camping, outdoor activities, watching the Packers and stock car racing, especially #4. Rilla is survived by her husband; father, Leonard (Vickie) Dunn of Waunakee; mother, Rilla Miller of Eau Claire; siblings, Linda Dunn of Madison, Kerry (Vickie) Dunn of Florida, Greg (Heidi) Dunn of Missouri, Cathy (Terry) Creech of North Carolina and David (Jenifer) Dunn of Eau Claire; sister-in-law, Diane Dunn of Wyoming; nieces and nephews along with numerous other relatives and friends. Private family services are scheduled. Memorial may be made to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue, 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851. Rilla will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

My deepest sympathies. What a shock to see Rilla's obit in the paper this morning. Rilla was a source of sanity for me and a go to person when I needed someone to talk about the seemingly endless BS that plagued the Survey. Rilla was a true friend and trusted coworker. I missed talking with her when I last visited the Survey, then found out she had to "retire" early. My thoughts are with you and wish you well.

Rilla was my first and dearest childhood friend. We were inseparable during many summer vacations going from early grade school to well into our teens. I loved her like a sister and I'm so sorry we lost touch.
My heart breaks for Chris and her family. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Rilla and I took a scuba instructor course together in Baraboo in the 1980’s. I remember her as kind individual with a good heart. I hope her legacy lives on with her loved ones.
