Obituary

Charles Gaylord Beaty passed away on January 11, 2011 at HospiceCare Inc. in Fitchburg, WI. Known to family and friends as Charlie or Gay, he resided in Baraboo until 2009 when he moved to Oak Park Place Assisted Living in Middleton. Charles was born in Woodstock on February 18, 1923 to Chester Arthur and Emma (Murphy) Beaty. He attended school in Richland Center and was a Golden Gloves Boxer in High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Bessie Klock in 1943. Charles was proud to have served his country during WWII and was stationed in Italy as part of the 416th Signal Corp AVN. For his service, Charles was awarded the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Ribbon, a Bronze Battle Star, 3 Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal and the Meritorious Unit Award. Charles was a carpenter by trade and a 50+year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 0314. Along with his wife, family members and co-workers, Charles built several of the family homes in Wisconsin and Florida. He worked for Kroger, Findorff, and Badger Ammunition in the Wisconsin area. Charlie was a gentleman and a gentle man with a great sense of humor. His "charlieisms" were unique and appreciated by all who knew him. He loved anything Irish, cheese, chocolate and beer in no particular order. Above all, he loved his family and will be loved by his family forever.He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia (Trish) & Roger Blomquist, Nancy Formosa, Cathy Beaty, Sandy (Beaty) & Kevin Williams, 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, sister Carolyn (Orris) Oestereich, sisters-in-laws Wilda and Lorraine, nieces and nephews and "special son" Dave & Sherry Koepp.Charles was preceded in death by his wife Bessie, his parents Arthur & Emma, brothers Harold, Jesse, and Bill, sisters Lucile, Margerie & Clarice.Memorial Services will be held at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton at 11:00 on Saturday, January 15, 2011 with Chaplain Steve Zwettler of Hospice presiding.In lieu of flowers the family recommends contributions to HospiceCare Foundation Inc., 5395 E. To "Charlies Angels" and families: Please accept our deepest sympathies upon the passing of Uncle Gay. He was truly a unique and wonderful human being. I never knew him to say an unkind word about anyone, and he always was genuinely happy to see members of the family. The reunions at Grandma Beaty's were especially memorable in that regard. His delightful smile and obvious joy upon seeing members of the family just stands out in my mind. Some of my memories are of him taking me fishing and to the sponge fisherman shops in Clearwater, Florida. He also made me a bit anxious talking about coral and rattle snakes, scorpions, and alligators! I still get nervous when i go to Florida! In those days, one could collect conchs on the islands after storms. Uncle Gay took my Dad and me to a nearby island on his boat, and we collected many conchs, which were pretty exotic for a cheesehead from Wisconsin. Uncle Gay was a true role model for us all, and he will be sorely missed. Barry and Caryl Beaty

Dear Family of Charles and Bessy Beaty, All of us in the acticvity dept. would like to express our sorrow over the loss of your dear father, Charles. Even though we did not have the pleasure of knowing him, I suspect he must have filled your lives with good memories. We think about your mom, Bessy, still and miss her joy deeply. Joan Fluette (Wed. baking) has passed away a year ago in October. I like to think they are dancing in the street of glory together. With deep respect and regard, Jan Berkebill
