Obituary
King/Cross Plains/Lake Tomahawk - Robert F. Stormer, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King,WI. He was born on July 19, 1919 in Madison, the son of Fred Z. and Josephine (Willard) Stormer. Robert was a veteran of World War II having served six years in the United States Navy during the European and Pacific Theatres. He was very proud of his military service. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 481. He was united in marriage to Fern Atkinson of North Leeds on October 15, 1940 in Dubuque, Iowa. He worked at Sportsman Home and Mazanet Sporting Goods for many years. Robert was an avid Packer, Badger and Brewers fan and also loved playing Euchre and Cribbage, fishing and deer hunting. Robert resided at the King Veterans Home since July 2006, prior to that he lived in Cross Plains to be nearer to his family and prior to that he lived in Tomahawk for many years. Robert is survived by a son, Gene (Ruth Dahlk) Stormer of Cross Plains; three grandsons, Dan (Lisa), Todd (Debbie), Timothy (Nichole) and granddaughter-in-law, Teresa Stormer; ten great grandchildren, Ashley, Matthew, Katie, Jack, Emily, Joshua, Cora, Elijah, William and Grace Stormer and nieces, nephews and many friends,. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fern on Nov. 1, 1992; grandson John Stormer on Dec. 3, 2009; brothers, Francis, Joseph, Frederick and Kenneth; sisters, Florence Miller, Marie Germann and Dolly Higbie; his mother and father; his mother and father-in-law, Adolph and Nettie Atkinson. Memorial services with military rites will be held at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave, Middleton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009 with the Reverend David Brandfass presiding. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Wisconsin Veterans Home, Stordock Hall 3rd Floor for the loving care given to Robert during his 3 year stay.Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, we love you and will miss you but we know you are with Fern and John and your family, until we meet again-your loving family.
Visitation:
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Service:
Memorial services with military rites will be held at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave, Middleton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009 with the Reverend David Brandfass presiding
