Statz, Margaret M.MARTINSVILLE- Margaret M. Statz, age 92, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009 at Heartland Country Village. She was born on Sept. 29, 1917, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Hollfelder) Laufenberg. Margaret married Chris Statz in Nov. of 1940 at St. Peters Catholic Church, in Ashton. Together they raised their family and farmed in the Martinsville area all their life. She played the organ for over 72 years for her home parish, liked traveling and enjoyed the time spent with her family. Margaret is survived by her sons and daughters, Betty (Vincent) Hellenbrand, Bill (Kathy), Mike (Laurie), and Mary (George) Gatti; 15 grandchildren, Deb Hellenbrand, Doreen (Kurt) Jackson, Dorothy Ripp, Amy (Warren) Jungbluth, Angela (Bob) Hellenbrand, Kim (Mike) Kelly, Jennifer Statz, Derek (Toni) Statz, Katrina (TJ) McKee, Vicki Statz, Emily (Ben) Cash, Fred Statz, Chris Statz, Nick Statz, and Barry (Jolene) Statz; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Josephine Stoffel; daughter-in-laws, Teresa Statz and Ruth Hiller; and other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chris; two sons, Jim and Ray; three brothers, Alphonse, Ben and Allie Laufenberg; and two sisters, Betty Ballweg and Agnes Statz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARTIN CATHOLIC CHURCH , 5959 St. Martin Circle, Martinsville, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, with Father Bud Hollfelder presiding. Burial will follow at St. Martins Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009 and also on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Heartland Country Village, Black Earth for the loving care they gave Margaret the last four years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARTIN CATHOLIC CHURCH , 5959 St. Martin Circle, Martinsville, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, with Father Bud Hollfelder presiding.
