Allen, Daniel C. DanCOTTAGE GROVE - Daniel C. Dan Allen, age 58, was welcomed to Gods table on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, after a lengthy illness. He was born on Nov. 30, 1951, in Roswell, N.M., the son of Rosemary and Melvin Allen. Dan graduated from Stoughton High School in 1970. He married Kathryn Dietenberger on Aug. 12, 1972. Dan was a senior scientist with Epicentre in Madison. He was also an asparagus farmer and owned Allens Asparagus Acres. Dan enjoyed fishing, golfing and many activities with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; children, Sarah Allen, Chad (Dawn) Allen, and Brenda (Chris) Johnsrud; grandchildren, Shane Thrun and Griffin Allen, and Jakob Johnsrud; brothers, David (Cindy) Allen and Doug Allen; and sister, Nicki (Nolan) Andersen. Dan was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dean Allen; and sister, Vicki Allen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PATRICKS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 434 N. Main St., Cottage Grove, at 12 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, with the Monsignor Raymond Kertz presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Luke House.
