Obituary

BROOKLYN/OREGON- John H. Jack Davis, age 89, passed away on Friday November 27, 2009 surrounded by his daughter-in-law, his granddaughter and his great-grandson. He was born October 13, 1920 to Harvey and Tilda (Uglum) Davis in Robbinsdale, MN. He graduated from high school in 1938. He volunteered for the US Navy in WWII 1942. He served in Saipan as a ship welder until November of 1945. He married Mildred Yaeger on September 16, 1947. He was a farmer and journeyman plumber all of his life. He farmed in Minnesota for 10 years, then moved to Wisconsin in 1962. He was a 32nd degree Mason for 40 years and a member of Eastern Star. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was member of the American Legion Benjamin Johnson Post #160 of Brooklyn, WI. Jack and Mildred enjoyed playing cards and many trips over the years with their friends in the Weekenders tour group. He also enjoyed attending Navy service reunions. In his younger days, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed combining and field work; in his later years he enjoyed riding with his grandson Ben in the combine. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Arlene, Jean and Katherine, infant son and his wife Mildred. He is survived by his children, Kathy Gerber (Bill Seitz) of Monona and John Jr (Shirley) of Brooklyn; grandchildren Misty (Deron) Johnson, Ben (Shannon) and Bob (Carolyn); great-grandchildren Darien and Dalton, Lilah and Emmett, Bob and Jack. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 172 N. Main St., Oregon, on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Brooklyn. Visitation will held on Monday, Nov. 30 at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 431 Soden Dr., Oregon, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 6:45 p.m. A special thank you to the staff at Main Street Quarters for all their loving care and to HospiceCare.
