Wiest, Cletus C.
MADISON/PLAIN-Cletus C. Wiest, age 86, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009. He was born on April 10, 1923, on the family farm in Plain, the son of George and Margaret (Lins) Wiest. Cletus attended St. Luke's Catholic School. He married Kathryn Dix on Feb. 19, 1952, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cazenovia. Together, they farmed and raised 10 children near Plain, on the family farm where Cletus was born and raised. In May 1992, Cletus and Kathryn moved to Madison. Cletus was a devoted caretaker for Kathryn during her illness. They were active members of St. Dennis Catholic Church and enjoyed going to Cottage Caf. Cletus is survived by his children, Eugene (Carolina), Joan (Randall), Dennis (Colleen), David (Brenda), Janet (Robert), Randal(Linda), Richard (Michelle), Mary (Gary), James (Tandy), and Julie (Pat); 23 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lucy McDonald, Sister Mary Wiest, and Rita Vielhuber; and many good friends, including Jack and Frank. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn; his parents; two brothers, Father Donald and Raymond; and an infant sister, Celia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, with Father Lance Schneider presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial will be at St. Luke's Cemetery, Plain. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Endowment Fund.
