Michael Olsen

Olsen, Michael P. MADISON- Michael P. Olsen, age 54, of Madison, a loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009. He was born on August 9, 1955, in Austin, Texas. Michael graduated from Madison Memorial High School in 1973. He was united in marriage to Laurie Nyhus in 1987. Michael worked for the State of Wisconsin for 30 years and was also employed at H&R Block for over 20 years. He enjoyed his yearly vacations to Las Vegas and his regular visits to Ho Chunk. Michael had a love of music. He is survived by his wife, Laurie; three children, Robert Scace, Kimberly (Kevin) Dunham, and Shianne (Dan) Martinson; six grandchildren, Katie, Keagan, and Kyle Dunham, Tylor and Shawn Martinson, and Austin Henze; a sister, Amy (Stephanie) Knezevich; a brother, Charles (Gloria) Knezevich; mothers, Silver Olsen and Anne Gray Knezevich; mother-in-law, Dona Nyhus; sisters-in-law, Jeannie (Jim) Taylor, Dawneen (David) Steinhauer, and Denise (Adam) Neeley; brother-in-law, Mark (Susan) Nyhus; and many niece and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Howard Olsen; and his father-in-law, Robert Nyhus. Funeral services will be held at ST. JAMES EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 427 S. Main St., Verona, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009. Burial will be at Verona Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Michael will be remembered for his kindness and patience!
