MADISON-Michael E. Brozek, our hero, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born on July 16, 1950, in Columbus, the son of Cleve and Esther Brozek. Michael married Diane Drollinger on Jan. 12, 1974. He was the vice president of Electric Construction, working there for over 20 years. Michael was an avid Badger fan, UW-Madison alumni, life-time member of the NRA, avid hunter and fisherman. When his children were younger he was active in the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Diane; four children, Chriss (Rhonda) constant hunting partner, Rebeccas encouraging muse, Erics (Sarah Joy) intellectual equal, and Saras musical groupie;his beloved grandson, Max, to whom he was a constant playmate;and his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, friends, and hunting partner, Jeff Rowley.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Tyler Byers presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors at UW Hospital. The only thing that trumped his love of hunting was his love of his family.

I will miss Mike greatly. I have worked with him for almost 25 years. His greatest quality was honesty. He always told it like it was and never underhaned anyone. We had many conversations through the years about our children, and things we would like to do. On days when things got hectic we would joke about retiring, buying a garbage truck and taking turns driving it around town and changing places riding on the back. Didn't want to have anything to do with picking up garbage but just riding around town having no pressure. I know Miked loved all his children, and his grandson Max. He always had pictures, art work or other things around him that showed off his family. I know Max was important to him also. From the time he was born he almost always had a picture of him on his computer. In the many years to come I will remember Mike and miss his greatly.
