Obituary

Easland, Donald L. FoxMCFARLAND/COTTAGE GROVE/MONONA-Donald L. Fox Easland, age 81, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at Meriter Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born on Aug. 19, 1928, in Madison, to Roy and Mary (Sherman) Easland. After he served in the U. S. Army, he married Patricia Edge on Nov. 4, 1950, in Madison. He started in the elevator trade in 1950 and retired after more than 40 years with various elevator companies. Don was recognized for his knowledge and excellence in the trade and consequently was hired by the University of Wisconsin as a consultant. In 1951, Don and Patty moved to Monona where they raised their family which became Dons greatest joy. After more than 40 years they moved to Cottage Grove, but their home, regardless of its location, remained the focal point for friends and family to gather for good times. Don and Patty loved to travel, visiting wonderful locations around the world. Don also enjoyed fishing especially when it included the family. His greatest pleasure came from watching the activities of his children and grandchildren. Don is survived by his wife, Patty; his children, Denise (Wendell) Hottmann, Rick Easland, Kim Easland and Steven (Connie) Easland; his grandchildren, Andrew (Chelan) Easland, Troy (Melissa) Hottmann and Jade Easland; his great-grandchildren, Caden and Sienna Easland; his sister, Marchita (Darrell) Krenz; and many nieces, nephews and great friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dick and Jim Easland; and grandson Matthew Hottmann.
