Carlson, Vivian MarieMONONA - Vivian Marie Carlson, age 96, of Monona, passed away on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009. She was born on April 8, 1913, in Steuben, the daughter of Hugh and Myrtle (Turner) Oakes. Vivian married Stanley Carlson on Oct. 17, 1964. She was a very involved member of St. Stephen\'s Lutheran Church in Monona and the Monona Senior Center. Vivian is survived by her husband, Stanley and their children, Raymond (Hazel) Rogers, Doris (Clyde) Cruckson, Loretta Hooker, Janet Rogers, Eleanor Joyner, Nancy (Dennis) Goff, Ron (Jean) Carlson, Judie (Larry) Hierlmeier, Greg (Mary) Carlson, Kristi (Jack) Schneider, Karen (Larry) Van Dam, Jeff (Lisa) Carlson, Tom Balk, Bob (Mariam) Balk, Bill (Evelyn) Balk, and Ted (Irene) Balk; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; sister, Dorothy (Walt) Pemberton;and sisters-in-law, Flossie Oakes and Joyce Oakes. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Glen, Dale and Forest Oakes and granddaughter, Lois Theel. Funeral services will be held at ST. STEPHEN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5700 Pheasant Hill Rd., Monona, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, with the Rev. Nick Utphall presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, and also on Thursday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Cemetery: Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
