Eric took great pride in his service in the U. S. Army with the 435th Troop Carrier Group, serving in England, France and Germany during World War II, and maintained enduring friendships with his comrades over the years. After honorable discharge in 1945, he returned to his home in Northport, where Eric married Louise Haines in 1947. During his years in Northport, he worked for Grumman, the U. S. Postal Service, the Northport Police Department and The Singer Corporation. Eric also served as a volunteer firefighter with the Northport Fire Department. In 1978, Eric and Louise moved to Wisconsin and resided in Waukesha, Madison and Oregon. A loving and devoted family man, he is survived by his wife of 62 years, Louise; and his three children, Janet (Timothy) Fox, Ellen (David) Mueller, and Bonnie (Jerry) Thiel. Eric is also survived by five grandchildren, Sara, Dana, Krista, Aaron and Hans; and five great-grandchildren, Garrett, Emma, Ellie, Savanna and Brianna.
