William Christofferson

MADISON- William E. Christofferson, age 80, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the UW Hospital. He was born on May 12, 1929 in Madison, the son of William A. and Margaret (Isaacson) Christofferson. Bill married Dorothy E. Paske on February 19, 1949, and recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. He attended Lakewood Elementary, graduated from Madison East High School in 1947, attended UW Madison and MATC, and also served in the Navy Reserves. Bill proudly served over 20 years with the Dane County Traffic and Sheriffs Department, retiring in 1985 as an Investigator. Bill was a member of the Wisconsin Professional Policemans Assoc., Madison Elks Lodge 410, and the Eastside Business Assoc. He was an avid sports fan, a great cook, bread maker, and birdwatcher. Bill had a variety of interests including traveling, camping, and reading, but most of all loved spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; daughters, Dorothy (Dennis) Henning of Plano, TX, Pam (Joe) Endres of Dane, and Janet (Joe) Collins of Marietta, GA; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; many sisters and brothers-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, including, Mary Lou Lathrop and Ellen Cuthbert, who he and Dorothy were guardians for, and his beloved cat, Sophie. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Betty Jane; grandson, Christopher Endres; brothers, George and Ralph; and sister, Mary Lou Cuthbert. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m with Rev. Curtis Everson. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2009, at the funeral home.
