Karen Snorek

Snorek, Karen G. STOUGHTON - Karen G. Snorek, age 66, of Stoughton, passed away Friday, September 11, 2009 at Hospice. She was born on December 7, 1942 in Mauston, the daughter of Ken and Marion (Greene) Jensen. Karen graduated from Elroy High School in 1960. She then married Gayland C. Snorek on May 27, 1961. Karen worked for Sun Life Assurance Co. in St. Paul, Minn. and later for Curran & Curran, Attorneys at Law in Mauston. She moved to Stoughton in 1965. In 1970, she began working with a pre-school program until 1980. Karen and her husband, along with friends, David and Linda Fellenz, purchased Many Good Moments Daycare in Stoughton in 1980 and operated it until 2006.Karen is survived by her husband, Gayland; children, Chris (friend, Michelle) Snorek, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Tim (Julie) Snorek of Sun Prairie; granddaughter, Caitlin; grandson, Michael; mother, Marion Jensen of St. Paul, Minn.; two brothers, Neil Jensen of St. Paul, Minn. and Denny (Nancy) Jensen of Mauston; and special niece, Laurie Jensen; cousin and best friend, who were like sisters, Carla Amberg; brother-in-law, Gordon (Diane) Snorek, of Madison; sisters-in-law, LaVonne (Charles) Stull of Rockdale, Il., and LaRene (Bill) Hardy of West Bend; step-father-in-law, Lawrence Brockman of Elroy. She was preceded in death by her father, Ken; and her aunt, Margie. A memorial gathering to celebrate Karens Life will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, 1358 Hwy 51, Stoughton, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2009. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a education fund to be established for her granddaughter Caitlin. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice for their care and compassion.
