Obituary

Francis E. Kurt, died on Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at All Saints Memory Care in Madison, WI. He was born on July 13, 1926, in Dane, WI, to John J. and Mabel (Goltz) Kurt. He graduated from Lodi High School. He was married on Sept. 4, 1952 to Elaine Ruetten in Spring Green, WI. Francis farmed many years on the family farm in Dane. He also worked at the Lodi Canning Company, Ace Hardware and Koltes Lumber Supply. He is fondly remembered for his great sense of humor, avid card playing, and his story telling. He also loved to walk and enjoyed the great outdoors. Francis was a member of St. Michael's and St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife Elaine Kurt; two daughters, Judy (Vince) Formosa and Janice (Daniel) Schlimgen; five grandchildren, Kurt Wenger, Kristin (Mark) Sawyer, Karen (Matt) Hull, Mark (special friend Amanda Henning) Schlimgen, Brian (Joanne) Lane; and six great-grandchildren, Dylan and Gavin Sawyer, Ryne and Mariah Hull, Cierra and Chase Lane; three sisters, Almira Aberle, Arlene Ziegler, Dona Hartmann; five sisters-in-law, Dorothy McCluskey, Evelyn Peck, Carol Ruetten, Madelyn Frederick, Beverly Ruetten; two brothers-in-law Charles Ruetten, Fred Peck; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Karen Lane; his brother John N. Kurt; two sisters, Dorella Maier, Clarice Keichinger; ten brothers-in-law, Harold Keichinger, Robert Aberle, George Maier, Hubert Ziegler, Clifford Hartmann, Joseph McCluskey, Joseph Ruetten, Frederick Ruetten, Paul Frederick, Gerald Ruetten; two sisters-in-law, Henrietta Kurt and Shirley Ruetten. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009,with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Family and friends may call on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at All Saints Memory Care and Hospice Care for their compassion, care and friendship.
