Well grandma Alice we are sure really going to miss you. You are in so much of a better place right now. It has been hard the last couple of years watching you in the Nursing home. I remember the years when you cooked and all the great food you prepared. I also remember the days when you would beat me in cards, as well as you putting on your makeup in the front window before church. Man grandma you touched my heart and so many others. Rest in peace. I will miss you so much. Love, David Eckhardt

Alice, Elizabeth Faren, Alice, Elizabeth, Faren a loyal brave, strong woman. A great wife to Obie Faren. A wonderful mother of six Jim, Bob, Margaret, Mary, Mike and Maureen. A Grandmother of eleven. A great Grandmother of six. Alice was a catholic that loved and was involved at St. Buirners church. Alice and her family lived on Franklin Ave in Middleton Wisconsin. Her house was one of the best house’s to visit with family. Had the backyard to play badminton, lay out in the sun on her deck, having cook outs, playing kickball, playing hiding go seek in the house and in her backyard. In her backyard she had a beautiful garden. Us kids were such little stinkers growing up we would pick her tomatos and throw them at each other. Oh, did we tick her off but she was over it because we were just kids. Alice loved picking berries and making delicious pies. Alice had the touch of cooking and learned baking from her darling husband. Duh she married an amazing baker. That’s why they were such a great combo. Alice always had the sweets. We also all know where she hides her sweets. Everyone would always be sneaky and snag a sweet. Including, myself. Smelling those doughnuts in the morning, oh gosh was that heaven, but you would have to be an early riser or all the good ones would be gone or all of that was left was an empty box with just glazed stuck inside the box. But there’s always ice cream at night. She would always give Ginger and Stubbie her dogs half of her cone. So thoughtful of her. She was such an animal lover ,that her favorite show was Animal Planet. She adored animals so much. She was more interested than animals than people. Smart Woman! But she loved that spoiled rotten dog Lizzie. Which we all didn’t get. The thought of her that counts. Alice was such in great shape and such a strong woman. She always kept up with her weights and her aerobic excersises. She had the best teeth and great beautiful blue eyes that shined. But she would always put her rushe and powder on before she goes out or to church. You can always know with her facial expressions on her face. If she was happy, sad, tired, in pain, laughing, or ticked off that she knows when your leaving. But she gets over it because there’s lots of love that comes and sees her. Alice was someone you had to watch out for. She was such a sneaky card player. But never cheated or did she. Just kidding Grandma. A brave little soul she was. Do you remember when she swallowed a big bumble bee. Wow, Grandma how did you pull that one out? Worrier nah she was never a worrier. I remember the time when I was picking up Grandma Alice out in Barniville heading back to Mount Horeb and it was raining cats and dogs. I remember all she was saying over and over. “Wow look at the rain.” In a very relaxing calm way. I was praying to God.” Please God get us home.” I bet if she was driving she would of found it back quicker than I would. Alice’s mind is so smart and sharp. I guess that’s where cards are spread out on the table. Her memories for birthdays was impeccabel timing. She would always sent a card and money. Her process would be $10.00 for her kids and $5.00 dollars for the grand children. Such a great support for the family. Would always be there by your side no matter what. Whether you ended up with scrapes, cuts, bruises, or broken bones she was there to heal you. But who would not want to be there for her or spend time with this amazing woman. The last day that I visited with her I jogged up to nursing home and had a bag with a slice of cake. She ate the whole thing and had a big smile on her face saying “Mmm Good.” I told her it was the recipe from her darling husband Obie that is now our family recipe. She was such an easy going friend, a mother a grandmother, and a great grandmother. Which I decided I would name my first daughter after my best friend Alice, Elizabeth, Faren. Alice was 94 and a widow for 24 years with two broken hips. But gosh was she a tough cookie. I guess she keeps it up from having her sugar and her sweets came from her sweetness. Alice is our idol our hero and you are still here but in a better place where you will rest in peace in heaven and be with your loving husband Obie Faren. We will always missed you and never forget you and we love you. May God have mercy on your soul. I love you Grandma.
