Marion Youngerman

MADISON-Marion Ann Youngerman passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Sunny Hill Health Center in Madison. Marion was born February 10, 1925 in Gary, Indiana where she graduated from Lew Wallace High School. After graduation, she worked for the local telephone company. She married Irvin Youngerman on August 31, 1963 in Chicago where they then lived for a number of years before moving to Madison in1988. Marion volunteered many hours at Meriter Hospital, the Madison Children\'s Museum, and the State Historical Society. Marion belonged to the Friends of the Chazen Museum and the Overture Center. Marion had a passion for traveling. She and Irvin traveled to many European countries . They also enjoyed their cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, and Eastern Canada. Although Marion didn\'t follow the recipe books, using her intuition she was an exceptional cook and pleased many palates. Marion enjoyed reading and following current events. She was skillful in creating needlework projects. She is survived by her husband, Irvin Youngerman; daughter, Denise Youngerman; son-in-law, Scott Deyo; sisters; Katherine (Carl) Zitz, Charlotte (Vern) Walton, Cecile (Tom) Wilbourne, step-grandson, Dr. Christopher (Dr. Abby) Deyo; step-great-grandchildren; Michael and Claire Deyo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Anna (Riblan) Sarko, her brothers, James and Steve and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Calumet Park Chapel, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, Indiana at 11:30 AM on Thursday, October 1, 2009 with Robert L. Brinkerhoff presiding. Burial will follow in Calumet Park Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of services at the chapel. To provide an opportunity for friends to greet Marion\'s family and celebrate Marion\'s life, a memorial will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2009 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM in the Community Room of the Monticello Apartments, 5015 Sheboygan Ave., Madison , where a prayer service will begin at 3:00 PM lead by Penny L.
