Obituary

Goldberg, Jan Roger MADISON-Jan Roger Goldberg, age 66, of Madison, passed away on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at UW Hospital, with family at his side. He was born on Dec. 31, 1942, in Muskegon, Mich., the son of Sidney and Helen Goldberg. Jan was a graduate of Marquette University with a degree in electrical engineering. He married the love of his life, Jill Jacobson on Sept. 18, 1965. Jan was employed for 30 years at GE Medical Systems. He attended Door Creek Church. Jan loved his family very much. He was a gentle, brave man with a fun loving nature. Jan was proud of his children and loved watching them grow into adults, and was very happy with the spouses they chose to marry. He loved playing the guitar with his son and teaching his granddaughter Drew and other family and friends to play. He loved the times his darling daughter would cook special meals for him and just be together sharing good times. Jan is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jill; son, Jay (Jennifer) of Algonquin, Ill.; daughter, Jamie (Rich) Matheson of Madison; grandchildren, Drew, Hannah, Luke, Sheyn and Wyatt; a sister, Nancy Bleier of Los Angeles, Calif.; cousin, Linda Sielaff of Madison; brother-in-law and wife, Dennis (Dulce) Jacobson of Belleville, Mich.; niece, Debi (Jim) Carson of Michigan and family; nephew, David (Lynnette) Jacobson of Michigan; wonderful friends at Door Creek Church; and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Helen; and in-laws, Carl and Charlotte Jacobson. A celebration of life for Jan will be held at DOOR CREEK CHURCH, 6602 Dominion Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, with the Rev. Cal Steiner presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made directly to Door Creek Church, Short Term Missions.
