Buchanan, James V.
MADISON- James V. Buchanan, age 67, loving husband, dad and grandpa, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2009, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 30, 1941, in Lodi, the son of George and Margaret (Lignell) Buchanan. Jim graduated from Lodi High School in 1960. While serving in the U.S. Army, he met the love of his life, Diane Newbegin, who just happened to be the Major's daughter, and they were married on February 15, 1964. Jim began working for Struck & Irwin in 1964 and became owner and president in 1981 of Struck & Irwin Paving. His company was his greatest passion and he worked hard to accomplish what couldn't be done. In 1996, Jim was able to share his lifelong work with his children, who joined him with the daily operations. He enjoyed bowling, spending time with his family, and the simple pleasures in life. Jim is survived by his wife, Diane; son, Michael (Kelli) Buchanan of Madison; daughter, Katrina (Joe) Wessley of Madison; grandchildren, Krystal and Jeffrey Buchanan; Blake, Bennett, and Katy Jo Wessley; brothers, Tom (Carla) Buchanan, Harry (Pam) Buchanan, George (Marlene) Buchanan; sisters, Margaret Bong, JoAnn (Richard) Beck, and Janet Buchanan; brother-in-law, Bob (Gisela) Newbegin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Buchanan. In keeping with Jim\'s wishes, no services will be held. Please remember Jim in your own special way. Fill not your heart with pain and sorrow, But remember me in every tomorrow...Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles,I've only gone to rest a little while. Although my leaving causes pain and griefMy going has eased my hurtAnd given me relief. So dry your eyes and remember me, Not as I am now, but as I used to be.

So sorry to hear of Jims passing he was a wonderful cousen we really had a great time growing up together always enjoying each others company. When ever we ran into each other in Madison he always took the time to chat for awhile asking about the family and telling me about his family. He was very proud of you all and very proud running his own business.
My deepest sympathy to all.
