Obituary

Kadell, Alyce Jean Alyce Kadell passed away on September 6, 2009 at home surrounded by her family. Alyce won several battles with non-Hodgkins lymphoma but suffered from complications stemming from the illness the last four years of her life. Formerly Alyce Dederich, shewas born November 4, 1950 in Sauk City, Wisconsin to Lucy and Gene Dederich. Alyce enjoyed being a part of a large and loving family of 9 children. Alyce attended Sauk Prairie High School, followed by Mercy Hospital Nursing School in Janesville, Wisconsin graduating in 1971. She worked for three years at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Madison from 1972-1975 then spent a short time working in alcohol detoxification. She met her husband, Dr. Jerome Kadell, while at the VA and they married June 27, 1975. Alyce and Jerry had two children, Abigail and Gabriel. Alyce was a small woman with a huge presence and an even bigger heart. She dedicated her life to her family and friends; always willing to assist those she loved in times of need. She had an energetic, fun, loving spirit and a quick, witty sense of humor that made even strangers feel that they were welcome friends. She was an intelligent woman with a keen insight into the ways of the world. Many friends came to Alyce for advice or a simple laugh. She was a strong-willed woman with firm beliefs and a compassionate soul. Her sense of style was admired by many, and her love for fine cooking left lasting impressions. She loved to travel, read, watch films, and most of all spend time with family and friends. She touched many lives. She will be missed dearly and never forgotten. Alyce is survived by her husband Jerome; two children, Abby (fianc (Ryan) and Gabe (Anca); five brothers and three sisters, Linda (Dick) Frey, Sandye (Al) Wildenberg, Dick (Janice), Bob (Barb), Dan (Jane), Denny (Bonnie), Marie (Tim) Cairns, and Doug (Paula); a sister-in-law Barbara (Gareth) Wootton. She is further survived by five aunts, Joanne (Bob) Behnke, Helen Dederich, Darlene Dederich-Pings, Florence Dederich, and Audrey Schutz; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Lucy, special aunt and uncle, Hank and Alma Aron; grandparents, five uncles and two aunts. Alice was a very special person, even during the few times we were fortunate to meet her we were struck by her extraordinary kindness, abundant wisdom and the warmth of her presence. To her family and friends who regularly shared these gifts and to those of us less fortunate, she will be dearly missed. God's speed Alice.

Jerry, Gabe and Abby: We are so sorry to hear about Alyce. It was so great meeting her and all of you at Marie and Tim's wedding and to see Alyce a few other times during our visits to Madison. We know what a lovely lady she was and how much she will be missed. I have her bittersweet hanging in my dining room I got from her when we visited during the move. It made a safe trip from Madison to N.H. Everytime I put it up in the fall I will remember the fun visits and how much we cared for her. Our love and prayers to you all. Cathy, Warren, Wendy, Rui and Ryan
