Mary Garvey

Garvey, Mary "Liz" MADISON-Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Garvey, age 88, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at the HospiceCare Center. Liz was born on June 18, 1921, in Sun Prairie, the daughter of Adolph and Mary (Pirkl) Zandler. She married Harold W. Garvey, and they had two daughters and a son. In addition, she had two loving grandsons. Liz enjoyed her family, friends and neighbors. She loved to garden, sew and quilt. These were just some of the many talents she possessed and passed on to others in the family. Liz was always there for others and will be greatly missed. Liz is survived by her three children, Ann Wersal, Patricia (Roderick) Zentner, and Roger Garvey; two grandchildren, Scott (Krissy) Wersal and Chris Wersal (fiancee, Amber Herbst); and a sister, Dorothy (Jerome) Freidel. She was preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law, William Wersal; a sister, Margaret Carlson; brother, Harold Zandler; sister-in-law, Hazel Zandler; and brother-in-law, Harry Carlson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Sun Prairie. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009.
