WISCONSIN RAPIDS/CAPE CANAVERAL, FLA.-Ronald J. "Putt" Puttkammer, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, in Wisconsin Rapids. He was born on September 17, 1938, the son of Paul and Agnes (Paskey) Puttkammer. Ronald married Judy (Nelson) Puttkammer on June 2, 1962, in Madison. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Madison, from 1969 through 1999, and attended Christ Lutheran Church, Cape Canaveral, Fla. From 1998 to present. Ron remained a devout Christian throughout his life. He retired in 1993, from the UW Physical Plant, where he worked as a storekeeper for 28 years. He was self taught in many areas and was always looking to learn new things. Ronald renovated numerous rental properties in the UW Campus area and on Madisons eastside, including the Last House on State Street. He ran for Mayor of Madison in 1979 and for Dane Co. Treasurer in 1983. Ron was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Spending time with his family was his greatest joy. He was a very proud American and shared his patriotism in all aspects of his life. Ron was proud of his German heritage, and visited Germany several times with his wife, Judy, where they attended Oktoberfest in Munich. Ron was a beer connoisseur and critique. He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Kimberly Ann (Gregg) Buehler, and Tami Lynn (Ken) Pizzurro; grandchildren, Megan Ann Buehler, Alexander Jacob Buehler and Samuel Lee Pizzurro; and sister, Eleanor (Puttkammer) Nielsen. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Burnette McFarlane; and brothers, Gordon Puttkammer, Paul Puttkammer and Floyd Puttkammer. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, with the Rev. Sheryl L. Erickson presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Memorials may be made to Boystown, P.O.
