Bennett, Norma C.
MADISON/EAU CLAIRE-Norma C. Bennett, age 87, passed away on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009. She was born on May 24, 1922, in Stanford, Conn., the daughter of William Keine and Maude De Voe. Norma married Thomas Bennett on July 4, 1942, at St. Raphael's Cathedral. She worked as a telephone operator for the Wisconsin Telephone Co., U. S. Postal Service, and the VA Hospital. Norma also was a longtime homemaker. She loved her dogs, traveling, playing bingo, trips to the casino, and many summers at the cottage with extended family. Norma thoroughly enjoyed music. She was the daughter of an opera singer and loved to sing. You could always count on Norma for a smart-aleck type reply. She was blessed with tremendous wit. Norma is survived by her daughter, Joan D. Bennett (Dan Gibson); sons, Thomas J. (Victoria) and David J. (Vicki); 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R.; her parents; stepfather Andrew; a daughter, Linda; two sisters; and two brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, with Father John Meinholz presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009. Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
