Amos Braund

MADISON - Amos Walter Braund, age 85, passed away on Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 6, 1924, in Viola, the son of Walter and Anna (Huschka) Braund. Amos served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Frances Shedleski on June 24, 1950, in Reedsburg. Amos worked at Kayser Motors as an auto body repair technician for 38 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church since 1960. Amos enjoyed playing pool and loved to go fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre and was an avid gardener. Amos is survived by his wife, Frances of Madison; children, Margaret (Ed) Kersten of Madison, Mary Carter (Dave) of Gig Harbor, Wash., Elizabeth Young of Brownsville, Ore., Paula (Robert) Rough of Madison, Richard (Laurie) Braund of Columbus, and Gerald (Ivonne) Braund of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren, Tom (Erica) Kersten, Jeff (Jeanette) Kersten, Wakelin (Tonya) Stoneman, Jennifer (Todd) Matthews, Brock Rough, Cindy (Brandon) Bingman, Hunter Braund, Megan Braund, and Jessica Braund; 11 great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Charlotte, Ava, Moira and Brenna Kersten, Sadie, Remy, Clive and Emmit Matthews, and Rylee and Chase Stoneman; a brother, Andrew (Charlotte) Braund of Madison; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Delbert and Gilbert; and a son-in-law, Loren Young. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Cemetery: Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.
