Slane, Diane L.
MONONA-Diane L. Slane, age 63, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009. She was born on April 25, 1946, in Flushings, N.Y, the daughter of Albert and Bernadette (Weyenberg) Doerr. Diane married Roger Slane on Jan. 19, 1966 in Madison, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Diane and Roger raised five children in Monona. Her love was collecting dolls, and was a member of the Madison Doll Club. Diane was always a kid at heart and had a wonderful sense of humor. She liked to play jokes on everyone. Although at some times she could be stubborn, she had a heart of gold. Life was never boring. Diane is survived by her husband of 43 years, Roger; four sons, Albert (Mary), Peter (Lisa Zadro), Charles (Traci), and Hans; a daughter, Charlene (Ken); six grandchildren, Alexander, Alton, Matthew, Thomas, Anna, and Henry; a brother, Peter (Gail) Doerr; and an uncle, Bill Weyenberg. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Casey Chase; and a grandson, Casey Updike. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, and at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
