Dorothy Larsen

Larsen, Dorothy E.Oregon-Dorothy E. Larsen, age 94, formerly of Oregon passed away on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2009, at the Skaalan Home in Stoughton. She was born on Aug. 4, 1915, the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Gyte) Nelson in Oregon.Dorothy graduated from Oregon High School in 1933. She farmed with her husband, later was employed by the State of Wisconsin as a counselor at the Oregon Girls School and then as a dental assistant. Dorothy enjoyed quilting and was active in church activities. She was founder of the Oregon Food Pantry and participated in numerous outreach activities, volunteered at Skaalen Home for many years, and served on community boards. She loved serving church and community and her passion was for the disadvantaged. Dorothy was grateful for the simple joys of farm life with family and friends. With loving hands Dorothy created a keepsake quilt for each member of her family. Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children: Lindy (Tom) Halverson of Burlington, NC, and Laurie (Greg) Lerdahl of Middleton; grandchildren: Matthew (Sandy) Mouras, Jaimie (Brad) Berrier, Tami, Daniel, Michael, and Kate Lerdahl; and a great-grandson, Trenton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son David; siblings, Vera Richards and Edna Nelson. Funeral services will be held at ST. JOHNS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood, Oregon, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, with Rev. Paul Markquart presiding. Burial in Prairie Mound Cemetery. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 431 Soden Drive, Oregon, on Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Johns Church in Oregon and the Skaalen Home.
