MADISON-Patricia Ann Steinke, age 57, of Madison, passed away after battling cancer for 37 years on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born on Oct. 31, 1951, in Madison, the daughter of Palmer and Dorothy (Colvin) Hustad. Patti graduated from La Follette High School in 1969. She married Charles Steinke on Oct. 14, 1972, in Madison. Patti worked at PDQ in various positions for 18 years. Patti was the first woman to receive Manager of the Year Award and eventually became office manager. Patti also worked at Boston Store for 10 years as manager and Anchor Bank on Monona Drive for the last eight years as a personal banker, establishing relationships with many Commodore Members. She enjoyed shopping and traveling, primarily to Texas, California, New York, Mexico and her favorite, Las Vegas. Patti is survived by her husband, Charles of Madison; daughter, Kristin Ann (John III) Norton of McFarland; granddaughter, Taylor Ann Norton; brothers, Jeff (Ellen) Hustad of Fort Atkinson, Ron Hustad of Illinois, and Scott Hustad of Madison; a sister, Laurie Hustad (Toby Welch) of Cottage Grove; grandmother, Clara Anderson of Mount Horeb; best friend since high school, Dianne (Joe) Hrobsky of Fort Atkinson; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc. Patty couragiously faced so many health issues with style and grace. Now, she is at peace.

My sincere condolences for the loss of such a beautiful person. Patti and I were friends in Jr. High when we attended confirmation classes at Lake Edge Lutheran Church. I will always remember her as the pretty girl with silky hair and a big beautiful smile. May Patti rest in peace.
