Obituary
MADISON-Roger Sarbacker, age 60, of Madison, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Oct. 17, 1948, in Madison, the son of Carl and Eleanor Sarbacker. Roger married Susan Thomas on April 18, 1975. He was a professional tree trimmer for 30 years. Roger was currently employed by the City of Madison, Streets Department for the last nine years. He enjoyed dancing, camping, softball, and spending "Gunka" time with the grandchildren! Roger is survived by his loving wife, Susan; children, Thomas (Ranee) Sarbacker, Carl Sarbacker and friend, Helen and her children, Michael and Andrew, and Lynde (Carlos) Solano; and the lights of his life, four grandchildren, Mariana "Baby Girl" Solano, Lily "Lily Girl" Sarbacker, Carlos "Butter Butt" Solano, and soon to arrive, Baby Graycen Sarbacker. He is also survived by an aunt, Leona Millard; sisters, Lila, Patsy, Rita (Don), and Sherri; a brother, Rick (Ruth); and many nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bonnie; and two nieces. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Private burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, 2009. The family would like to thank the Guerra family for their help and support. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Stewart Turner, the nursing staff on 5 SW, and Roger's guardian angels, who took such good care of him, Tenzin, Bethany, Becca, Andrea, Lindsay, Amy, and all of the nursing staff that cared for Roger. "Hey Rog, has anyone ever told you that you look like Kenny Rogers?" His answer, "yeah, but I'm better looking."

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, 2009.

They always take the best first,Roger always had something to say.good,bad what ever. I admired him for that if something was on his mind he didn't hold it in. and it takes a man to do that, a truly great man he was and will be dearly missed

We always enjoyed Roger's smile, his genuine warmth toward others, his contagious laugh and his love of fun. He had a way of making everyone feel they had always known him. We continue to be shocked at his death.

I am so sorry for your loss. Roger was an AMAZING man. He was funny, charming, and quite the dancer. I am stunned by his death. He will truly be missed. I am so thankful that we got to see him, and all of you on our trip up last month. We love you all.

I am so happy to have met Roger and all of the Sarbacker family! Wonderful people that I will always remember. Everytime I look at my angel I think of Roger...and I get a great smile on my face! Rest in peace :)
