Violet Weikert

Weikert, Violet M.MONONA - Violet M. Weikert, age 92, of Monona passed away on Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at Belmont Nursing Home, surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Kensel, N.D., July 6, 1917, the daughter of Roscoe and Millie Brown. Violet was united in marriage to Edward J. Weikert on Nov. 30, 1936, in Minnesota. After moving to Madison, she worked at the Park Motor Inn, Lorraine Hotel, and the Wisconsin Center as a banquet waitress. Her favorite hobbies were crocheting, knitting, gardening and reading. Violet is survived by one daughter, Phyllis (Alvin) Bischoff of Monona; two sons, Donald (Dee) Weikert of McFarland and Gerold Weikert of Marshall; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Sharon L. Kovars and Shirley J. Hanson; one brother, Kenneth Brown; grandson, Shawn Kovars; and two daughters-in-laws, Marlene (Grossman) Weikert and Diane (Jenkins) Weikert. Funeral services will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL, 402 Femrite Drive, Madison, at 2:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009. Visitation will be from 12:30 until the time of the service on Tuesday. The family would like to thank the staff for the excellent care she received at Belmont Nursing Home, especially Carri, Tanya, Becky and Dawa.
