Zins, June L.MONONA/MADISON - June Lorraine Zins, age 84, passed away on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at Oak Park Place in Madison, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. June was born on Sept. 10, 1924, in Hampton Township, Columbia County, Wis., the daughter of Theodore and Cora (Weffald) Larson. June was married to Orlo J. Zins, in Dubuque, Iowa, on Oct. 30, 1948. She loved to work on all sorts of crafts, making numerous afghans, holiday decorations, and cross-stitch prints for her family. June enjoyed playing cards with her friends at Monona Meadows and baking for family and friend's. We will miss her potato salad and chocolate cream pies. She enjoyed taking trips to South Dakota, Colorado, Wyoming and many other places. June's last trip by Amtrak train to Disney World with her sister Carole, niece Debbie and friend Lorraine was something she talked about quite often, and always enjoyed pulling out her photo albums. She is survived by three children, Orlo (Claudia) Zins of Appleton, Darlene (Richard) Buskov of Madison, and Alan (Karin) Zins of Pardeeville;Five grandchildren, Laura Tapia of Madison, Adam and Aaron Zins of Appleton, and Derek and Monika Zins of Portage;Three great-grandsons, Daman, Adison and Cameron Zins, all of Appleton. June is also survived by a sister, Carole Zins of DeForest; and four brothers, Clair of DeForest, Donald (Darlene) of Deerfield, Ted (Rosie) of Sun Prairie, and Ernie (Lorraine) of Beaver Dam; sisters-in-law, Catherine Larson of Madison, Janice Zins of Madison, and Janis Zins of Lake Mills;a brother-in-law, Pat Cappaert of Wallace, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Cora Larson; her husband, Orlo J. Zins on Feb. 22, 1978; a sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and "Pete" Peterson; sister, Adeline Cappaert, and one brother, Elgin. Brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene, Richard and Anton "Tony" Zins, Myra (Gordon) Specht and Dorothy (Kenneth) Hubred. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, 2009 , with Pastor Nick Utphall officiating. Visitation will be on Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Oak Park Place for the wonderful care and compassion they showed our mother during the past difficult years.
