Stephen Fish

Fish, Stephen F. MADISON-Stephen F. Fish, age 59, of Madison, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at home. He was born on Jan. 16, 1950, in Milwaukee, the son of Audley "Mac" Fish Jr. and Joyce (Angus) Fish. Stephen graduated from Madison East High School in 1969. He received an associate degree in computer programming from Madison Area Technical College. Stephen served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1973 until 1975, and achieved the rank of lance corporal. He married Patricia Hopwood on July 18, 1981, in Madison. Stephen was a longtime employee of Weir Minerals Inc. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and spending time with his family. Stephen was well loved and was a very gentle, caring man. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Pat; daughters, Mindi (Brian) Hoffman and Kyla, both of Madison; a brother, Rickman (Maria) Fish of Arizona; sisters, Jeanne (Mike) Rockow of Fall Creek and Theresa (Brian) Butikofer of Iowa; brothers-in-law, Gene (Gail) Hopwood of Madison, Larry (Peggy) Hopwood of Mississippi, Lyle (Joyce) Hopwood of Dane, and Nels Hopwood of Madison; and many nieces and nephews. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, with Chaplain Bob Groth presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial to follow at Cottage Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or HospiceCare Inc. The family would like to thank the Dean Oncology staff and also HospiceCare for their compassionate care and also all those who supported the family during this difficult time.
