Dennis Day

Day, Dennis "Wayne"SUN PRAIRIE-Wayne Day, age 70, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2009, at St. Mary's in Sun Prairie. He was born on Oct. 6, 1938, in Madison, the son of Wayne and Jeanette (Anderson) Day. Wayne served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He married the love of his life, Margaret Laufenberg on May 20, 1961, in Madison. He owned Wayne Day & Co. Accountants for more than 49 years. Wayne recently retired as supervisor for the Town of Windsor after 20 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gourmet cooking, and loved spending time with his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Wayne is survived by his wife, Margaret; children, Lisa (Greg) Mohar, Michelle (Gary) Manthe, Renee (John) Von Klopp, and Patrick Day; grandchildren, Kara and Hartley Mohar, Greg Manthe, Anja and Reja Von Klopp, and Kaden and Britney Day; sister, Virginia (Jack) Johnson; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Mike Day. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2009, with Monsignor Michael Burke presiding. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Token Creek Conservancy, Town of Windsor Town Hall, 4084 Mueller Road, DeForest, WI 53532.
