Voigt, Virginia M.\r\n
MCFARLAND/MONONA- Virginia M. Voigt (nee DiLorenzo), age 84 passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. She was born on June 1, 1925, to Angelo and Anna DiLorenzo. She was raised in Madison\'s famed \"Bush\" surrounded by a large extended Sicilian family. On June 1, 1957, Virginia married her soul mate, Melvin C. Voigt Jr. and was blessed to spend 50 years together. They settled in Monona to raise their family. Virginia\'s full time job was raising her children who couldn\'t get enough of her made from scratch Sicilian pasta and bread. As a homemaker, she kept the family\'s glue together with her firm but loving ways. Virginia loved to dance and was the first and last on the dance floor at weddings and such. She was a matriarchal fixture at family gatherings who was always surrounded by loved ones. Virginia is survived by her four children, Keith (Rhonda) of Monona, Dean (Amy) of Monona, Angela of New Glarus, and Kristi (Scott) of Stoughton; five grandchildren, Evan, Chelsey and Genevieve Voigt, Kaleigh and Nelia Gundersen; two step grandchildren, Bruce and Eric Grady; a great-grandchild Kira \"Monkey\" Kirby; sister, Josephine (Joe) Scheel; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mel; her parents; brothers, Tony and Vincent \"Jimmy\"; sister, Rose; a beloved granddaughter, Alicia; and cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2009, with Father John Meinholz presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. The family would like to thank Dr. Shropshire of U.W. Monona and Dr. Hei at U.W. Oncology, HospiceCare of Fitchburg, and all the nurses and staff of Care Wisconsin for their care and support during Virginia\'s illness.\r\n
