Clarice Thayer

Thayer, Clarice (Haugen)DEFOREST/MADISON-Clarice (Haugen) Thayer, age 91, of Deforest, formerly of Madison, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2009, at the HospiceCare Facility. She was born on March 12, 1918, the daughter of Peder and Jennie (Sveen) Haugen, on the family homestead in Bottineau, N.D. Clarice was married to James R. Thayer on May 30, 1940. She is survived by her six children, Judy (Bob) Kelchner, Diane (Louis) Loui, Connie (Daniel) Downing, Pam Waddell (Daniel Hurley), Geneva Jensen (Bill Brooks), and Peter Thayer; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, John Haugen; sister, Carol Young; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Clarice was preceded in death by her husband, James Thayer; son, Lester Thayer; granddaughter, Sherry Barry, and great granddaughter Brooke Joseph and son in law, Dennis Jensen. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ken Smith presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and also on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
