THOEMKE NORMA J
MADISON-Norma J. Thoemke, age 78, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the UW Hospital after a long illness. She was born on November 17, 1930 in Urbana, Illinois the daughter of George and Margaret (Menges) Leever. Norma was united in marriage to Eugene Thoemke on May 23, 1953 in Champaign, Illinois. Norma loved her home, her books and listening to music, but treasured most the time she spent with her family and friends. She had a special place in her heart for gardening and her flower gardens reflected that. Norma is survived by her husband of 56 years, Eugene of Madison; two daughters, Jill (Max) Maxwell and Jackie (Karl)Woodruff, all of Madison and four grandchildren, Heather and Eva Maxwell and Ian and Jeremy Woodruff. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Georgia and Madelyn. Funeral services will be held at ST. ANDREW EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 6815 Schneider Road, Middleton at 4:00 PM on Sunday, June 21, 2009 with the Reverend Randy Hunter presiding. Private family burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Madison. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the time of the service at the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the UW Hospital staff, Dr. Carr, Dr. Callander, and the nursing staff of 6B and TLC for their care and support given. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the time of the service at the church.
