Obituary
Wayne A. Johnson Wayne A. Johnson, born September 10, 1931 in Stoughton, WI of Edward and Olga Johnson, passed away after a brief illness in Bella Vista, Arkansas on May 6, 2009. On March 30, 1957 Wayne married Jane Long in a double ceremony with Janes twin sister, Judy, and Robert Dahlk. The two couples were inseparable throughout most of their adult lives, vacationing together in northern WI, as part of a card club that endured for many years, and many Friday fish frys. Wayne loved to dance and enjoyed music of all types, was an avid golfer and, though he disliked flying, traveled extensively. In 1986 Waynes job transferred him to Indiana and later to Louisiana. Wayne and Jane then moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, where they were part of a growing contingent of Wisconsin retirees. After Janes death in 1996 Wayne moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, where he lived until his sudden illness. Wayne made a point of coming back to Wisconsin yearly, usually by way of Illinois to stop and visit with friends and family along the way. He stayed in touch with family and old friends, and had a full social calendar whenever he visited "home." Wayne is survived by his sister, Janet (Lee) Erdahl, Arizona; brothers Kenneth Johnson, Arizona, and "Junior" (Ursula) Johnson, Stoughton, WI, and brothers-in-law, Robert Dahlk, Verona, WI, Richard (Sue) Long, Hudson, WI, and Larry (Karen) Long, Michigan. He is further survived by nieces and nephews that he considered his children: Don Johnson, Kenny Johnson, Sharon (Mick) Hamling, Diane (Frank) Chiovatero, Ralph (Nancy) Johnson, Eddie (Pat) Johnson, Kim (Bill) Marheine; Don (Chris) Dahlk, Kirsten Hanford, Justin Long, Jessica Long and Anna Long, and numerous friends, old and new. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jane; sisters-in-law, Mary Johnson and Judy Dahlk, and many dear friends. He will be often remembered for his ever-ready smile, his love of dancing, and his joy in living. Funeral services for Wayne will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at 11:00 am, at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Avenue, Middleton, WI, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am until the time of services. Pastor Heather Lampert will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or to the charity of your choice.
