Eleanore Collins

Collins, Eleanore L. MADISON/OREGON-Eleanore L. Collins, age 92, died on Saturday, May 2, 2009. She was born on June 7, 1916, in Blue Mounds, the daughter of Fred and Cecile (Shuman) Helmenstein. Eleanores parents operated the Blue Mounds Hardware Co. She graduated from Mount Horeb High School and Madison Business College. Eleanore married Arthur W. Collins in 1961. She was employed by Dane County and the State of Wisconsin. In 1965, Eleanore resigned from state service and worked at A & E Equipment Co. with her husband until retirement. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Zor Auxiliary, Daughters of the Nile, and Elks No. 410 Ladies Auxiliary. Eleanore enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Nakoma Country Club for more than 20 years, and was an avid bridge player. She and her husband traveled to China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the Holy Land, Egypt, Europe, Mexico, Canada and Alaska. Eleanore is survived by two nieces, Sue (Neil) Dettwiler of Oregon, and Sandy (Mark) Fillner of Stoughton; great-nieces and great-nephews, Melissa Jures of Temecula, Calif., Nicole Harris of San Marcos, Calif, Scott Fillner of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kristi Fillner of Verona, and Matthew Dettwiler of Oregon, Wis.; three great-great-nieces; and niece-in-law, Colleen Olson of San Diego, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur on May 4, 1999; her sister, Dorothy Olson; brother-in-law, Wyman Olson; and a nephew, John Olson.
