Evelyn Sommer

Evelyn C. " Evie" Sommer, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2009. She was born on November 5, 1917 in Fond du Lac, WI., the daughter of Charles and Marie (Hibitski) Heber. After her mother passed away in 1943, Charles married Clara Sines, whom Evie loved as a mother. Evelyn married Leonard Sommer on Aug. 21, 1952 in Madison. He passed away in 1993. Evie was a devout Catholic, loving mother and grandmother and was a member of St. Bernards Catholic Church. She had a variety of interests including playing cards, dancing, knitting, crocheting, and sledding with her grandchildren. Evelyn treasured most her family and the times spent together. Survivors include her children, Barbara (Bob)Huljak of Nashville, TN, Connie (Dave) Wentworth of Lodi, WI., Dennis (Brenda) Sommer of Austin, TX., and Patty (Gary) Christman of South Whitley, IN.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Holly Heber; her sisters, Elizabeth Braun, Jan Lunder and Elaine (Norbert) Albrecht; and other nieces, nephews and many friends. In addition to her husband Leonard, she was preceded in death by her brother, Len Heber; her sisters, Eleanor (Chuck) Holtz, Dorothy (John) Ondrasak and brothers-in-law, Ed Braun and Bill Lunder. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 from 8:30 am until 10:15am at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton . A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at ST. BERNARDS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., at 10:30 a.m. with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery at a later date.
