Dorothy Clarke

Clarke, Dorothy Ione MADISON-The lovely soprano singing voice of Dorothy Ione Clarke was stilled on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, Martin Clarke, her son and Carol Clarke, her daughter-in-law at her side. Her five year old great-grandson said it best, "GG is in my heart with Jesus", and so it is with us who knew and loved her. Dorothy was born Oct. 26, 1917, into the family of Nils and Belle Lexvold, including a sister, Marie and brother, Overt, all of whom preceded her in death. Dorothy graduated from East High School where she met the love of her life, Francis Clarke, who she married. She lost the companionship of her beloved husband of 62 years on Feb. 16, 1990. She was a life long member of Bethel Lutheran Church, sang in the choir for many years and an active member in XYZ. Dorothy worked at the UW Bookstore for several years and had been a member of Eastern Star and the Elks. She is survived by her son, Martin (Carol) Clarke; grandson, Brett (Lisa) Clarke; granddaughter, Stephanie (Travis) Graham; and two great- grandchildren, Ryan and Jordan Clarke. Funeral services will be held at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Ave, Madison on Thursday, May 21, 2009, at 11 a.m.. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.
