Obituary
Bonano, Tony J. MONONA-Tony J. Bonano, age 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2009, after complications from surgery. He was born Antonio J. Bonanno on Feb. 21, 1925, in Madison, the son of Antonio and Antonina (Manino) Bonanno. Tony served in the U. S. Marines during World War II. He married Christina Hornung on Nov. 20, 1948, at St. Marys of the Lake Catholic Church in Westport. Tony was a supervisor at Rayovac for more than 50 years. He also owned Madison Detective Bureau Inc. Tony was a charter member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He was a member of the Monona Volunteer Fire Department for many years, Italian Workmans Club, International Club, and was a Civil Defense Director for Dane County. Tony is survived by his wife, Christina; six daughters, Christina (Jan) Shade, Ann Rasmussen, Mary (Larry) Lebica, Pamela (Dennis) Stainbrook, Marsha (Rick) Hacker, and Monica (John) Quale; 14 grandchildren, Andy Tennent, Marcus Shade, Angie Murillo, Tina Conners, Jeremy Lebica, Nicole Lukens, Dennis Stainbrook, Melissa Hughes, Angela and Andrea Stainbrook, Monica and Ashleigh Hacker, and Tony and Christina Quale; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sophie (John) Healy; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers; a brother, Sam; and sisters, Mary Grignano, Ann Pelstring, and Grace Boland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2009, with Father John Meinholz presiding. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a Rosary service at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2009, and at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. A special thanks to Dr. Albert Musa and to those who provided loving care of our Dad. I gave you my love. You can only guess, how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown but now its time I traveled on alone. We love and will miss you.
