Obituary

Rothwell, Henry Hampton FITCHBURG - HAMPTON ROTHWELL Henry Hampton Rothwell was born on July 8, 1930 to John Mears Rothwell and Lilly Mary Steven Rothwell in Santiago, Chile. Upon his fathers death in 1940, due to war pending in Europe, Hamptons mother moved the family to Wilmington, North Carolina where his fathers family members lived, rather than to Scotland her native home. Hampton went to high school in Wilmington, NC, and later graduated from North Carolina State in Electrical Engineering. After serving in the Army, he went to work for General Electric in NY, where he also received his MBA. Later he worked for ITE in Germany, and Siemens International as a regional manager for 21 years on both the East and West Coasts. Upon retiring from Siemens, Hampton became the Director of Business Development for the State of Wisconsin. Hampton retired from state government after 16 years in 2005. Hampton loved life and was an inspiration to many. He loved to travel, a love that he shared with his wife Barbara. He was thankful for this wonderful and loving family, wife Barbara, sister Lilly (Francis) March, and brother Ian Rothwell (deceased); daughters Kathleen (William Peterson) Adler, and Laura (Behrooz) Heshmaty, son Christopher (Kathleen) Larsh, niece Sheila (Bill Lackland) McGinnis, and Christy Rothwell; grandchildren Alexander Heshmaty, Robert Ross Adler, Bradley Heshmaty, Emily Adler, Collin Larsh, Chloe Larsh, Cuinn Larsh, great niece Corey McGinnis, and mother-in-law Dorothea (Lewis-deceased) von Trott. Hampton fell in love with trains as a child in Chile, and spent a lot of years traveling by train whenever he could. Hampton was a member for over 20 years of the South Central Wisconsin Division of the National Model Railroad Association, and served on several boards related to international and business development. It was through that love of trains, travel and business that he gained a wonderful network of friends and deep friendships, all of whom were of great comfort and support during his last days. On May 2, 2009, Hampton, surrounded by loved ones, passed away peacefully at his home. He was a wonderful loving husband, father, and friend. He will truly be missed. Visitation will be held on May 5, 2009, at St. Dennis Catholic Church, 505 Dempsey Rd, Madison, WI from 5:30-6:30pm, followed by a memorial mass at 6:30pm. Memorials may be made in Hamptons name to the American Heart Association, or to Angels Wish, Inc. 161 Horizon Dr., Suite 106, Verona, WI 53593..
