James Corbett

Corbett, James "Jim" K. MADISON - James "Jim" K. Corbett, age 62, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 27, 1947, in Denver, Colo., the son of James and LaVera Corbett. Jim graduated from Lafollette High School in 1965, and Vocational School in 1967. He married Karen Lincicum on Aug. 31, 1968. Jim was a Viet Nam Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from Sept. 5, 1968 until Sept. 5, 1970. He worked at GTE-Verizon for 38 years as a fleet mechanic, and retired on Dec. 19, 2008. Jim loved spending time outdoors, fishing and camping at their camper in Avoca, and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed woodworking and doing puzzles. Jim is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Becky Corbett and Christine Gannon; grandchildren, Ashley and Nikki Gannon, Keegan Strand, and Samantha Flatt; mother, LaVera Corbett; brothers, Kendall (Linda) Corbett and Gary (Sally) Corbett; sister, Shonna (Frank Medcraft) Alexander; brothers and sisters-in-law, Linda (Curt) Johnson, Bonnie Lincicum, Kathy Sturz, Michael Lincicum, Gary (Mitzui) Lincicum, Robbie Lincicum and Tom Lincicum; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James Corbett; mother and father-in-law, Kenneth and Clara Lincicum; special Godson, Greg Hron; sister-in-law, Barbara Lincicum; and nephew, Jonathon Alexander. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203Monona Drive, Madison, at 7 p.m., on Thursday, May 7, 2009. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
