Howard Lyans

MOUNT HOREB/STOUGHTON-Howard F. Lyans, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. He was born on Dec. 20, 1921, in Madison, the son of Frederick and Frances (Ahms) Lyans. Howard was united in marriage to Helen Latham on May 22, 1948. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed living in the country observing nature. He loved animals of all kinds, especially his Shelties. Howard is survived by his daughters, Karen Lyans Cooley of Dodgeville, and Jackie (Bruce) Voight of McFarland; son, Dan Lyans of Mount Horeb; grandchildren, Christon (Susan) Cooley, Peter Cooley, James Voight, Erica Voight, Jennifer Lyans and Benjamin (Donella) Lyans; and sister-in-law, Lois Lyans. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Lyans on Feb. 25, 2009; his parents; a daughter, Kathy Lyans on May 22, 2007; brother, Glenn Lyans; and sister, Nita Axley. A memorial service will be announced later in the spring. We will miss his wonderful smile and sense of humor!
