Gordon Sawyer

Sawyer, Gordon C. MESA, ARIZ./MADISON-Gordon C. Sawyer, age 84, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2009, in Mesa, Ariz. He was born on Nov. 5, 1924, in Poynette, the son of Harry and Vivian (Dunbar) Sawyer. He married Beverly K. Burdick on April 29, 1948. Gordon served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 until 1946. He worked for more than 40 years as a flooring installer. Gordon was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. He was an avid Packers fan. Gordon was a member of the VFW in New Lisbon, and participated with the military rights of deceased veterans. Gordon is survived by three children, Dave (Carolyn), Kathy Crary, and Tom (Debra); four grandsons, Jon, Scott (Trisha), Brian (Lori) Sawyer, and Chris Crary; and two great-grandsons, Reid and Blake Sawyer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; parents; and sister, Gerry. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Pat Siegler presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
