Bill 'Bumpa' (as he was referred to by Hope) will be greatly missed by so many. Words cannot explain the sorrow that my family and I are feeling. We can only hope that God guides the entire Wolverton family and extended family through their grief during this most difficult time. If there is one person in the world that is most deserving of Heaven we all know it is 'Bumpa'. I just wish he could have walked on this Earth with us longer. He was the most caring, compassionate and non-judgemental person I had ever known. Bill had an inner glow that would make kids gravitate to him like magnets. He was the type of person that would give you the shirt off of his back. We will miss him so very much and I feel extremely fortunate to have known him these past 15 years. I know that he has impacted my life in many ways and made me a better person as he has done the same for my daughter, his grandaughter, Hope and I am eternally grateful. May God bring peace to his family and all that knew him.

Barb, I am so sorry to not be able to be there because of health reasons. I so wanted to say my last 'goodbye' to my 'Billy Boy'. I have so many childhood memories of that smiling face. He will never be forgotten here in MI. Those that saw him at the last reunion thought he was in such great spirits. Jerry Whitney wanted to pass along to you these sentiments, 'I will always carry the many memories from our childhood days in the ole hood and remember Bill and his infectious grin. May God rest his soul. Thank you brave soldier for all that you gave. Della sends along her prayers to you. Please give hugs and love to the kids and gradkids for us. We hope to contact you in a couple of weeks and make a trip there with Janice. We do want to still have the same closeness with you 'Barbie Doll' And I know everytime you look at that grandson you will know Bill is still beside you. My heart is so very heavy now knowing that he is no longer walking this earth. A piece of our childhood that can never be here again. Please tell the kids this one thing I learned in school 'Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, the other is gold. With great love. Dianne and Dick--Janice

Barb and family,
We are so sorry that you have lost Bill our thoughts and prayers have been with you all and will continue to be. It was so good to reconnect with Bill a couple of reunions back and realize that we had more in common than we ever did, our strong faith in our Lord. His love of the Lord was a true inspiration to me and I know he is pain free and in the arms of Jesus. I will always remember that big grin and sharp wit.
His e-mails were always full of his love for his family. He felt blessed.
Love to you all,
Margaret and John Bauman

Brother's before have come and gone
Now the Lord has called you home
You lived your life and did your best
Receive your reward and take your rest
You will be missed by others just like me
The spirit of the Lord will set us free
I pray for your family and those left behind
That God will give them peace in time
You will forever be a Scorpion and a dear friend too
We love you and miss you
May God bless you

My three years I spent with Bill were some of the best. I can remember the passion he had for the notification, assistance, and funerals of veterans. I know he will receive the same resepect and love that he showed to others. It was such a pleasure to serve with Bill and I know he will be missed by all. A true friend and hero to our nation.
