Obituary

HOLLFELDER MELVIN CROSS PLAINS-Melvin Hollfelder, age 83, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2009. He was born in 1925, in Cross Plains, the son of Anton and Theresa Hollfelder. Mel married Jeanette Theis in 1947 in Martinsville. He was employed with the State of Wisconsin as a genetics research lab technician for 35 years until his retirement in 1987. Mel was a lifetime resident of Cross Plains and a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Mel is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeanette; two daughters, Nancy (Keith) Hetzel and Judy (Jim) Laubmeier; five grandchildren, Tom (Thysen) Hetzel, Tony Laubmeier, Ted (Theresa) Hetzel, Peter Laubmeier (Rachel Brantmier), and Theresa (Kevin) Ballweg; Three great-grandchildren, Max, Emily and Ruby; a sister Berdella Lowenberg; and special family friends Margaret and Bud Sather. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Virgil, Gil and Ed; a brother-in-law Joseph Lowenberg; and three sisters-in-law, Vera, Tilda and Mary Hollfelder. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes Street, Cross Plains, at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 23, 2009 with Father Thomas Kelley presiding. Burial will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 until the time of the service on Monday. Special thanks to Sister John Rose and Dr. Daniel Jarzemsky and his staff at the Cross Plains Clinic for their loving care.
